The singer Sain Zahoor is to play rare date in the UK at the University of Bradford.
The singer who won a 2006 BBC World Music Award is scheduled to play at the University of Bradford on Saturday 28 June 2008.
Sain Zahoor is a leading Sufi musician from Pakistan, born and raised in a rural peasant family. For decades he performed exclusively at dargahs and melas in his native Ojara district of Pakistan. In 2006 he was won the BBC World Music Awards (Best Voice of the year) even though he had never released a record.
Zahoor’s live performances are legendary, ‘Fans of the Sufiana kalams claim that seeing and hearing Sain Zahoor in full flow is the closest anyone alive will get to being in the presence of the the Sufi mystics of yore, like Bulle Shah and Shah Hussain.
